On June 29th, 2022, at approximately 1:52 am, officers were made aware of a vehicle stopped at the intersection of South Market and Main Streets, with the driver either passed out or sleeping. Officers located the vehicle in the travel lane of the 1st block of East Main Street. The vehicle was in drive and the driver was sleeping inside with his foot on the brake. The driver was identified as Benefield. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol. It was determined Benefield was not safe to operate a motor vehicle and he was arrested. A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date.
