On July 2nd, 2024 at approximately 9:33 am, the police department was dispatched for a two vehicle crash at the intersection of East Main Street and South Chestnut Street. Investigation determined Ivelisse DeMaio attempted to make a left turn from South Chestnut Street onto East Main Street. She failed to see a vehicle, operated by Tiffany Jones, traveling eastbound and pulled out in front of her, causing a crash. Both drivers sustained minor injuries. Officers learned DeMaio had taken numerous prescription medications, which provided warnings not to use while operating heavy equipment (vehicles). Following their investigation, Officers determined the combination of the prescription drugs taken by DeMaio rendered her incapable of safely operating a motor vehicle. Jones was seen by EMS on scene. DeMaio was transported to the hospital for treatment. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to the damage they sustained.
