On July 10th, 2024, at approximately 6:46 am, the police department was dispatched to the 400 block of East Main Street for a single vehicle crash. Investigation determined the operator, Josef Sorgiovanni, was driving westbound when he attempted to retrieve something from the passenger side floor after it fell off the seat. In the process of retrieving the item, he swerved off the roadway and stuck a utility pole. The utility pole was severed near the base. Sorgiovanni sustained a minor injury and was seen by EMS on scene. His vehicle was towed as a result of the damage it sustained and Verizon was dispatched to repair the damaged utility pole.
The police department was assisted on scene by the Mechanicsburg Fire Department and Penn State EMS.
