On May 31st, 2024 at approximately 11:21pm, the police department was dispatched to the intersection of South Market Street and Marble Street for a crash. Investigation determined Shirk was traveling southbound on South Market Street. Hammacher was traveling eastbound on West Marble Street, stopped for the stop sign, and intended to continue eastbound onto East Marble Street. Hammacher did not see Shirk approaching and entered the intersection without clearance. Shirk attempted to avoid a collision by swerving, however, after the vehicles collided, Shirk’s vehicle continued into an adjacent yard causing additional property damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene as a result of the damage they sustained.
Traffic citations were filed at the conclusion of the investigation.
