On August 12th, 2020, at approximately 9:24 am, the police department was contacted by sanitation workers in regard to a live hamster being found in a trash can. The hamster was found in the trash can in the 200 block of South Washington Street. The owner of the trash can advised the hamster did not belong to them. The hamster was brought back to the police department and was turned over to a foster home for hamsters. The police department is attempting to identify the owner of the hamster. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department.
