On December 27th, 2022, at approximately 7:06 pm, the police department was dispatched to the 700 block of South York Street for an active break in of a business. Officers arrived and were informed an individual had forced their way into the business. A witness in the area heard glass breaking and upon investigating observed an individual leaving the business with a bag in their hand. The witness confronted the individual and they dropped the bag and fled the area on foot. The individual entered a vehicle parked close by and the vehicle then fled. The bag was found to contain a number of firearms which had been removed from the business.
Investigation into this incident determined other business were either burglarized or were attempted to be burglarized in other jurisdictions. Another agency was able to identify the individuals responsible for this burglary and arrests are pending and an investigation is ongoing.
