Free Bicycle Helmets to be Handed Out

The Mechanicsburg Police Department has teamed up with Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital to hand out free bicycle helmets, along with educational materials. The bicycle helmets were donated to the police department as part of an outreach to educate the community about wearing helmets while riding bicycles. There has been a two fold increase in pediatric bicycle injuries since 2019. It is the hopes of all involved to promote bicycle safety and knowledge, as well as positive community relations. The Mechanicsburg Police Department will have a canopy set up in front of the Geisinger EMS station, 36 North Market Street, Mechanicsburg, PA, on October 17th, 2020. We will be there from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. This will be part of the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce Streets of Treats event. Looking forward to seeing you there for your bicycle helmet. If you already have one, please stop by to say hello. Any questions about the hand out can be directed to the police department.
