On February 12th, 2021, at approximately 10:46 am, the police department was contacted by a victim advising they received contact through Facebook Messenger they were being awarded a “grant.” The victim was asked to send a picture of their driver’s license which they did. After this, the victim received a request from someone advising they were a “lawyer” and needed the victim to send money for the processing of the grant. The victim realized it was a scam, ceased contact with the individual, and contacted the police department.
