On June 5th, 2022, at approximately 2:06 pm, the police department was contacted by a victim about an incident occurring at the intersection of Shepherdstown Road and East Elmwood Avenue. The victim advised they were on the sidewalk near the intersection when they were shot with a BB gun or pellet gun. The victim believed a white Buick Encore, which was travelling southbound on Shepherdstown Road, may have been involved. The victim advised the vehicle ran the stop sign and this is when she was shot with the projectile. The victim was unable to provide a further description of the vehicle or driver. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the police department.
It is believed this incident may have be related to a social media challenge. It should be known this type of incident could cause serious injuries. This type of activity is criminal in nature and the police department will file charges if an individual is identified.
