On January 20th, 2022, at approximately 3:28 pm, the victim contacted the police department after being scammed out of money. The victim, from the 100 block of East Main Street, advised they attempted to purchase a vehicle on Facebook Marketplace. They made contact with the seller and were directed to send payment for the vehicle, in eBay gift cards, in the amount of $800. The victim did so and contacted the seller advising this was completed. The seller asked the victim for more money, but the seller refused. The seller contacted eBay and was told they were the victim of a scam. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the police department.
