On October 28th, 2022, at approximately 1:38 pm, the police department was contacted by the victim about a purchase they attempted to make on eBay. The victim, who resides in the 1st block of East Coover Street, advised they found a truck for sale on eBay. They contacted the seller and were directed to purchase $1200 in eBay gift cards for the purchase. The victim did so and provided the corresponding numbers on the gift cards. The victim later received a message stating the seller needed an additional $1000 for shipping costs. The victim purchased this amount in eBay gift cards and again provided the corresponding numbers. The victim was contacted a third time and told they needed more money to cover the PA sales tax. The victim realized this was most likely a scam and contacted the police department. The victim was advised it was indeed a scam and to cease all contact. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the police department.
