On June 26th, 2023, at approximately 8:02 pm., the victim contacted the Police Department to report they were scammed. The victim, who resides in the 200 Block of West Elmwood Avenue, reported they sent money to a person on Facebook Marketplace for the purchase of a couch. The seller was to deliver the couch to the victim but failed to do so. Instead, the seller was still attempting to sell the couch online. The scam was reported to Facebook and the seller’s account was eventually deleted. The identity of the seller is unknown. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Police Department.
