Theft from Motor Vehicle

On June 9th, 2022, at approximately 6:47 pm, the victim contacted the police department about their wallet being taken from their vehicle. The victim, who resides in the 100 block of South Chestnut Street, reported they went out to their vehicle at around 6:30 am to retrieve some items. They did not lock their vehicle after getting the items and going back inside. Someone entered into the victim’s vehicle soon after and took their wallet. The victim’s credit cards and other items were found on a neighbor’s front porch. There was a camera within the block which captured an individual walking in the area around 6:40 am. The individual is seen on video with the victim’s wallet in their hand, going through it. Screen shots and the video were sent out to law enforcement contacts from the surrounding area. The individual was positively identified by one of the contacts. Charges have subsequently been filed against the individual. A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date.
