On February 2nd, 2022, at approximately 9:54 pm, the police department was dispatched to the intersection of South Market and Simpson Streets for a crash which just occurred. Upon arrival officers determined one vehicle and a bicycle were involved. Investigation into the crash determined Hoffert was operating her vehicle southbound on South Market Street. Braide was operating his bicycle also southbound on South Market Street. They were both crossing over Simpson Street when Hoffert struck Braide’s bicycle from behind. Braide was transported from the scene to the hospital for further evaluation of injuries he received as a result of the crash. It was determined Braide had both front and rear lighting on his bicycle as required by law when operating a bicycle at night. The police department was assisted on scene by Penn State Health EMS.
