On August 15th, 2022, at approximately 6:24 pm, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East Main Street for a crash which just occurred. Upon arrival officers determined there was one vehicle involved and it had struck a house. Investigation into the crash found Whitsel was on North Walnut Street facing south. He was attempting to turn right onto East Main Street. Whitsel advised he completed the turn and hit the gas pedal, rather than the brake, when trying to slow down. Whitsel was operating the vehicle on his learner’s permit. The vehicle required towing from the scene due to the damage it sustained in the crash. The police department was assisted on scene by Penn State Health EMS and the Mechanicsburg Fire Department.
