On February 19th, 2021, at approximately 2:00 pm, the police department was contacted by Norfolk Southern Police about a railroad gate having been struck. It was reported the damage was discovered today when the gate malfunctioned. The gate is located in the first block of North Walnut Street. The entire crossing gate base was twisted. It is believed it was struck as the gate arm was coming down or going up. The damage would have been caused by a vehicle travelling southbound. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the police department.
