On January 17th, 2022, at approximately 6:13 pm, the police department was dispatched to the intersection of South Market and Simpson Streets. Upon arrival officers determined there were two vehicles involved with one vehicle fleeing the scene. Investigation into the crash determined the victim had been involved in a crash just prior to the hit and run crash. The victim advised their vehicle was stopped in the lane of travel on South Market Street, facing north. They had just been involved in an unrelated crash. A vehicle travelling north on South Market Street, struck the victim’s vehicle in the rear and fled the scene. The striking vehicle was described as a dark SUV. After striking the victim’s vehicle, they went around the victim and continued driving away, last seen on South Market Street. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the police department.
