On October 11th, 2021, at 3:28 pm, the police department was dispatched to the 200 block of South Arch Street for an active disturbance with a firearm involved. Officers arrived and identified all parties on scene. Investigation led to the recovery of a firearm. The incident began when a male approached two juveniles and offered them $20 to go get a hanger. The male was attempting to get into a vehicle which the male was “locked out of.” The juveniles were not being asked to get into a vehicle. The juveniles left the area in different directions. One of the juveniles returned with a hanger and was offered the $20. The second juvenile’s father was made aware of the incident. This juvenile’s father came to the scene and words were exchanged with the male requesting the hanger. This male summoned a family member to the scene and the family member arrived in a truck. Words were exchanged between the adults who were on scene. The males left the scene in the truck. The family member came back to the scene, in the truck, and words were again exchanged. A firearm was “displayed” during this encounter, which prompted calls to 911.
Upon arriving on scene the firearm was seized by police. Both individuals involved were identified and charges are pending. At no time was a weapon pointed at or displayed towards the juveniles. The juveniles were not asked to actually get into a vehicle. This was not an abduction or an attempted abduction.
