Pedestrian Crash

On August 2nd, 2021, at approximately 6:52 am, the police department was dispatched to the intersection of West Main Street and North Frederick Street for a crash which just occurred. Upon arrival officers determined there was a vehicle and a pedestrian involved in the crash. A vehicle was being operated westbound on West Main Street. The pedestrian was attempting to cross West Main Street in the crosswalk, east of the intersection with North Frederick Street. The pedestrian was walking north to south. The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital for further treatment and later succumbed to their injuries. The operator of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The crash is still under investigation. The police department was assisted on scene by Penn State Health EMS, the Mechanicsburg Fire Department, the Pennsylvania State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Cumberland County Coroner’s Office.
