On August 1st, 2021, at approximately 12:40 pm, the police department was dispatched to the intersection of East Simpson Street and Shepherdstown Road for a crash which just occurred. Upon arrival officers determined there was a vehicle and a bicycle involved. Investigation into the crash determined a juvenile on a bicycle was travelling westbound on East Simpson Street. The bicyclist was attempting to turn left onto Shepherdstown Road. A vehicle travelling eastbound on East Simpson Street was operated by Figueroa-Madrigal. He was attempting to turn right onto Shepherdstown Road. They both had green lights and they both attempted their turns at the same time and collided. The bicyclist was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The police department was assisted on the scene by Penn State Health EMS and the Mechanicsburg Fire Department.
