On September 9th, 2021, at approximately 3:30 pm, the victim contacted the police department and advised they were the victim of a theft by deception. The victim reported they were contacted by phone about winning the Mega Ball Lottery. The victim was advised their winnings were $8.5 million. They were told to transfer $8,800 to another account to start the collection process of their prize money. The victim transferred the money. They were contacted to transfer more money and became suspicious. The victim reported the incident to the police and were told it was a scam. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the police department.
