On September 7th, 2022, at approximately 5:30 pm, the victim contacted the police department about a scam. The victim, who resides in the 400 block of East Coover Street, advised they made a purchase of books on eBay. The victim was advised they would be reimbursed for the shipping on the items purchased by purchasing gift cards and providing photographs of the backs of the gift cards. The victim purchased $400 in gift cards and texted the photographs. After sending the photographs the victim attempted to contact the seller and the calls did not go through. The victim contacted the police department and it was determined to be a scam. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the police department.
