On June 8th, 2023, at approximately 9:35 pm, the victim contacted the police department after falling victim to a scam. The victim, who resides in the 100 block of East Keller Street, reported they found an ad listed on realtor.com for a house for rent. The victim began emailing the person who was listed as the renter of the house. They continued email communication and the victim sent the individual money through PayPal to rent the house. After sending the money, the victim drove to the residence and learned, after speaking with a neighbor, the house was not for rent and the person who the victim was communicating with was not the owner of the property. The victim attempted to contact the individual by phone, but the person ceased all communication with the victim. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the police department.
