On June 5th, 2023, at approximately 11:59 am, the police department was contacted by the victim advising their bank account had multiple fraudulent transactions drawn against it. The victim, who resides in the 1st block of West Keller Street, advised they received a phone call from someone stating they were from the victim’s bank. The individual calling stated the victim would received a PIN through text message. The victim received the PIN and provided it to the caller. The victim stated this allowed the individual to access an account which was linked to the victim’s bank account. The victim later received notification from their bank about multiple fraudulent mobile bank deposits and withdrawals being made to and from the victim’s account. The victim realized the person who called did not work for the bank. The individual was able to withdraw a large amount of the victim’s money prior to their bank realizing it was fraudulent. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the police department.
