On March 4th, 2023, at approximately 5:28 pm, the police department was dispatched to the intersection of East Simpson and South Walnut Streets for a crash which just occurred. Upon arrival officers determined there were two vehicles involved. Investigation into the crash found Zimmerman had her vehicle stopped at the intersection for the red light facing south. Zimmerman was behind a vehicle also stopped for the red light. This vehicle was being operated by Smith. The light turned green and Zimmerman started her vehicle moving, but did not see Smith was still stopped. Zimmerman’s vehicle struck Smith’s vehicle prior to her being able to stop. Zimmerman’s vehicle required towing from the scene due to the damage it sustained in the crash.
