On May 3rd, 2024 at approximately 8:38am, the police department was dispatched to the 800 block of Charles Street for a crash with injuries. Investigation determined the operator had backed his vehicle out of the garage so his wife could enter the passenger side. Once out of the garage, the operator exited the drivers seat to assist his wife. The vehicle was not placed into park and continued reversing. The operator was dragged by the vehicle and his wife was knocked to the ground. The vehicle continued reversing across Allendale Road while dragging the operator and with no one inside. The vehicle proceeded to drive over the curb, over a bush, and through two yards. The vehicle reversed back onto the 700 block of Charles Street where it struck a parked vehicle and came to rest. Both the operator and his wife were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries they sustained.
The police department was assisted on scene by Penn State EMS and Hampden Township EMS.
