On May 8th, 2024, at approximately 3:32pm, the police department was dispatched to the intersection of South Market Street and Stouffer Alley for a crash. Investigation determined Lutes was traveling westbound on Stouffer Alley and stopped at the posted stop sign. He attempted to continue westbound across the intersection when he was struck by Roberts, who was traveling southbound and had the right-of-way. Due to the collision, Roberts was pushed into a utility pole. One vehicle was towed from the scene as a result of the damage it sustained.
