On June 8th, 2021, at approximately 3:59 pm, the police department was dispatched to the intersection of West Simpson Street and Lamont Avenue for a crash which just occurred. Upon arrival officers determined there was one vehicle involved and a bicyclist. Investigation into the crash determined Willis was travelling southbound on Lamont Avenue. He stopped at the stop sign and was attempting to move forward in order to observe traffic better. While doing so Willis’ vehicle struck the bicyclist who was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk. The bicyclist, White, was travelling westbound on the sidewalk and crossed over Lamont Avenue without stopping. Willis did not see White on the bicycle prior to the crash. White was injured and was transported to the hospital for further treatment. The police department was assisted on the scene by the Mechanicsburg Fire Department and Penn State Health EMS.
