On September 15th, 2021, at approximately 10:32 pm, the police department was dispatched to the intersection of South Walnut and East Simpson Streets for a crash which just occurred. Upon arrival officers determined there was one vehicle involved. Investigation into the crash found the vehicle being operated was travelling south on South Walnut Street. For unknown reason the vehicle continued straight at the intersection, going over the curb and into the property of the church. The vehicle struck a large landscaping rock stopping the vehicle from going further. The drive and sole occupant of the vehicle had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver later succumbed from their injuries at the hospital. Officers were assisted at the scene by the Mechanicsburg Fire Department and Hampden Township EMS.
