On September 21st, 2022, at approximately 1:39 pm, officers were on the scene of a crash. While investigating the crash, a second crash took place in the 500 block of North York Street. There were two vehicles involved in this crash. Investigation into the second crash found Marquez-Santiago was driving his vehicle north on North York Street. He stopped his vehicle in traffic, in the opposite lane of travel, and approached an officer on scene of the first crash looking for assistance with an app on their phone. While their vehicle was stopped it was struck by a southbound vehicle being driven by Cornetto. Both vehicles required towing from the scene due to the damage they sustained in the crash.
