On October 4th, 2023, at approximately 4:20 pm, the police department was dispatched to the intersection of East Simpson Street and Shepherdstown Road for a three vehicle crash. Investigation determine all three vehicles were driving westbound on East Simpson Street. Pugh stopped at the intersection of Shepherdstown Road to make a left turn. Letham, who was following Pugh, stopped behind Pugh’s vehicle. Akal, following Letham, failed to respond to the changing traffic conditions and rear-ended Letham’s vehicle which was then pushed into Pugh’s vehicle. All three vehicles sustained minor damage as a result of the crash. Akal’s vehicle was towed from the scene due to unsafe tire wear.
